Favorites (odds below +500)
Eastern Kentucky Colonels (+145): EKU was one of the favorites to win the ASUN entering the season but didn’t seem like they would be able to live up to it with a bad start to the season, however they turned it around in conference play winning their first 7. The Colonels dominated overall but got cold to end the regular season losing their last 2, was it because they clinched the 1 seed already, or something bigger?
Lipscomb Bisons (+300): Lipscomb has looked like one of the better teams in the conference all season. They maintained a pretty clean slate in non-conference play, keeping all their losses to good opponents, and notably beating Florida State. The Bisons dropped some games they shouldn’t have in conference play which dropped them to a 3 seed. If they can avoid losing early they are a strong contender to take the conference and a tournament bid.
Sleepers (+500 or above)
Stetson Hatters (+500): The Hatters haven’t been the most consistent team but they’ve proven they can play well. They beat UCF and Charlotte OOC and have won 8 of their last 11 so they are playing well at the right time.
Austin Peay Governors (+900): Austin Peay struggled a lot early during the year but the Governors are another teams that’s getting hot at the right time, winning 7 of their last 8.
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (+2000): This is a longshot but FGCU is simply a weird team. They’ve struggled most of the year but they also nearly beat Indiana, were competitive with Pitt and upset FAU. This is an odd team that could suddenly get hot and win this out of nowhere.
My Pick:
Lipscomb Bisons (+300) – I feel like Lipscomb may actually be the best team in this conference, they took a few bad losses to get a lower seed but now that it’s showtime they’ll be on the top of their game.
